I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Toronto, Department of Biochemistry. Prior to this position, I received my Ph.D. in theoretical particle physics from Lund University in 2018. I have a broad expertise in theoretical physics with particular interests in statistical mechanics and phase transitions.
My current research concerns simulations and mathematical modelling of biomolecular condensates (BMCs). Using tools from polymer physics and quantum field theory, I develop theories that predict the condensates' thermodynamic properties from e.g. the amino-acid sequences of the constituent proteins. The research is highly interdisciplinary involving aspects of physics, chemistry and biology, and is often performed in collaboration with experimentalists. While addressing fundamental questions in biology, the research also has potential applications in drug design and material science.
Outside of work, I enjoy playing jazz piano (particularly by going to some of the excellent open jam sessions at the many jazz venues in Toronto). In recent years, I have also developed a mild obsession with bouldering and rope climbing.
